๐ฃ๏ธ Sharing Your Thoughts: How to Agree and Disagree
In this lesson, you will learn how to share your personal opinions in English. You will also practice how to agree and disagree with other people in a polite way.
Giving Your Opinion
When you want to share what you think in English, it is helpful to use special phrases at the beginning of your sentence. This lets other people know you are sharing your personal idea, not a hard fact. Using phrases like 'I think' or 'In my opinion' makes your speaking sound natural and polite.
Agreeing Politely
When someone shares an opinion and you feel the exact same way, you can show your support using agreement phrases. Saying 'I totally agree' is very common. You can also use shorter phrases like 'That is so true' to show you are listening and you share their exact feeling.
Disagreeing Politely
It is totally okay to have a different opinion than your friends! However, in English, we usually soften our disagreement so we do not sound rude. Instead of saying 'You are wrong,' we start with polite phrases like 'I see your point, but...' or 'I am not sure about that.'
