๐ŸŽ Object Pronouns: Me, You, Him, Her, It, Us, Them

Learn how to use object pronouns in English. These words replace people and things after action verbs.

What are Object Pronouns?

We use subject pronouns like I, he, and she before the verb. But when someone or something receives the action, we use object pronouns like me, him, and her after the verb. They make our sentences shorter and sound much more natural.

I love my dog. I feed it every day.we use 'it' to replace 'my dog' after the verb
Sarah is my friend. I like her a lot.we use 'her' to replace 'Sarah' after the verb

Singular Pronouns: Me, You, Him, Her, It

Use 'me' for yourself, 'you' for the person listening, 'him' for a male, 'her' for a female, and 'it' for an animal or thing. They always come after an action verb or after prepositions like with, to, or for.

Can you help me please?asking another person to help the speaker
John is nice. I work with him.using 'him' after the preposition 'with'
Where is my phone? I need it.using 'it' to talk about the phone

Plural Pronouns: Us and Them

Use 'us' when you and other people receive the action. Use 'them' when two or more people, animals, or things receive the action. Just like the singular pronouns, these always go after the verb or preposition.

Our teacher gives us a lot of homework.the teacher gives homework to the speaker and others
Those shoes are cool. I want them.using 'them' to talk about plural shoes
